There are a lot of Houston TV stations in the greater Houston area. The Houston metropolitan area is the seventh largest metropolitan area in the country officially defined as a metropolitan area by the US census department. It consists of 10 counties in the south eastern part of Texas. There are approximately 5.3 million people living in the culturally diverse community and includes the neighboring Gulf Coast city of Galveston. The large number of Houston TV stations is due to the fact that the area is ranked as fifth in the country for Hispanic residents and eight for Asian and pacific Islanders. Most network programs are broadcast in both English and Spanish. Many of the Houston TV stations have websites that can be accessed in both English and Spanish as well.
