Cleveland Television News

Cleveland television news departments service the city of Cleveland Ohio and the surrounding metropolitan area of Ohio. Cleveland is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population of the city is approximately 480,000 making it the 33rd city in the nation in population. The surrounding metro Cleveland area has almost 3 million people. This quaint city is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie on one side and the Cuyahoga River on another. Cleveland is approximately 60 miles west from the Pennsylvania border. This entire area of the state is served by the Cleveland television news from the local TV stations.

According to one report on Cleveland television news, the city was named after General Moses Cleveland the leader of the surveying party hired to layout the original city approximately one month after white settlers signed a treaty with the local Native Americans to purchase the land in 1796. The city is surrounded by swamps and marshland which made the harsh winters challenging. But when the Ohio and Erie canals were completed, the city began to rapidly expand because it provided a key link between the Ohio Rive and Lake Erie for the iron ore and cola shipments that used the great lakes waterway.
